The more effort I put into

trying to change Institutional Church

for the better,

by writing and speaking out

against hierarchical abuse,

the more power

I gave it.

?

Anthony DeMello urged me

to overcome the enemy,

not by fighting them,

but by understanding them.

In understanding them, he said,

the problem disappears.

?

He urged me

not to try to sweep the darkness out of the room

with a broom,

but to simply light a candle.

?

The more I fought hierarchical abuse,

the more power I gave it

and the more it exhausted me.

?

If I could simply turn on the light of awareness

by understanding,

the problem for me

would dissipate.

?

When I renounced the hierarchy,

I was tied to it.

?

If I could simply see and understand

that the Institutional Feudal Monarchy

was of little importance

in the course of human spiritual growth and development,

there would be nothing to renounce.

?

I can now see

that the Institutional Feudal Monarchy

need not have any impact

on my own personal spiritual growth and development,

and so

have set myself Free Again, Free At Last!

?
